Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer Review

For years I was a firm believer in using the old school tools. I never used any pneumatic tools for jobs. Nope. Not me, I did things the traditional way. My wife would always tell me that I should buy some updated tools. After telling me for a few years, she finally did something about it and bought me a pneumatic wrench and air compressor.

I hate the fact that I folded so quickly, but I did – like a house of cards in a windstorm. After changing tires with a pneumatic impact wrench, you just don’t go back. Since then, I’ve been adding new pneumatic tools to my collection. Recently I picked up the Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer.

I do some side remodeling jobs. The Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer is the best thing to ever happen to my side business. I get more done with this tool than I ever thought was possible.

The Paslode nailer only weights a little bit more than 8 lbs, which makes it one of the lighter pneumatic wrenches around. If you think that a pneumatic nailer has to be bulky to deliver power, you haven’t tried the Paslode 501000, this nailer packs a surprise punch of nailing power that you have to see to believe.

Technical Specs:

  • Weight – 8.4 lbs
  • Built for use in any type of weather
  • Measuring rule built on to the magazine
  • Drives nails from 2″ to 3.5″

Pros:

    • Great depth gauge. The Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer has a nice, built in depth adjustment gauge. You can easily adjust for more power by turning a small dial. This makes jobs go a lot quicker, since you don’t have to touch the compressor to get more, or less driving power.

    • Compact design. This pneumatic nailer is not only lightweight, it is also very compact and not bulky at all. When you’re working in tight spots, having a compact nailer, like this one, is a huge benefit.

  • Excellent Balancing. Some nailers feel top heavy or otherwise off balance. The Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer is so balanced it’s almost like not holding a tool at all. this makes long days of nailing a lot less burdensome.

Cons:

    • Tweaking is needed. The first time you use the built in depth adjustment, it takes a while to get a feel for it. It’s a good idea to use it for a while on less important jobs, just to see how the depth adjustment works. I listed the depth adjustment as a plus, but you have to learn to make it work for you.

  • Requires adjustment. You have to keep an eye on your depth settings. My only other gripe is that the settings dial for the depth adjustment tends to have a bit of play. If you’re working for long stretches, you might have to do a quick readjustment to get it just right.

The Paslode 501000 F-350S PowerMaster Plus Pneumatic Framing Nailer is an all around beast when it comes to being powerful and maneuverable. I’ve always had a tough time nailing in tight spots, but this pneumatic nailer makes those cramped jobs simple to do, without sacrificing any power in the process.
